Gotabhaya insists war crimes were never committed

gotabhaya_rajapaksaFormer Defense Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa today insisted that war crimes were never committed by the military during the conflict.

Speaking to reporters after signing a petition against an international war crimes investigation on Sri Lanka, the former Defense Secretary said that the soldiers are going to be subjected to a war crimes investigation to satisfy the pro-LTTE Tamil diaspora.

He also questioned the visit of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein to Sri Lanka and the people he was meeting.

Rajapaksa said that the High Commissioner for Human Rights had met only a few people who were selected by officials to meet him.

The Defense Secretary said that Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein cannot take stock of the ground situation in Sri Lanka in a few hours.

“This is a joke,” he said.

Rajapaksa also said that there is disparity on how the Government hopes to investigate incidents over the war. (Colombo Gazette)

  1. The accused more of ten than not protest their innocence loudly . A number of his political opponents were subjected to disappearances or killing during his reign. Facts are stubborn and speak for itself.

  2. Lankan Pres PM etc insisted that war crimes were never committed by the military during the conflict.`

Human Rights of the British Pirates? Ha ha.

Even today’s Turkey (Ottoman Empire 1915) WW 1 is cosying up to pirates of UK and Germany…

it’s all in the money not sitting on fisherman’s pot of drug money.

  3. If NO war crimes were committed there is nothing to be concerned about. It is better to clear the good name of the forces than to have the charge hanging over our heads! The way GR and MR behave it would appear there is something to hide!
