Speaking to reporters after signing a petition against an international war crimes investigation on Sri Lanka, the former Defense Secretary said that the soldiers are going to be subjected to a war crimes investigation to satisfy the pro-LTTE Tamil diaspora.
He also questioned the visit of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein to Sri Lanka and the people he was meeting.
Rajapaksa said that the High Commissioner for Human Rights had met only a few people who were selected by officials to meet him.
The Defense Secretary said that Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein cannot take stock of the ground situation in Sri Lanka in a few hours.
“This is a joke,” he said.
Rajapaksa also said that there is disparity on how the Government hopes to investigate incidents over the war. (Colombo Gazette)
