Rajapaksas accuse Government of taking political revenge

Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa and his family today accused the?Government of taking political revenge on them.

The former President, who visited his son Yoshitha at the Welikada remand prison, said that it was not right to take revenge on his children.

“It is better if they put me inside,” he said.

Rajapaksa said that his son was preparing to sit for an exam on February 9 and 10 but now he?will not be able to sit for that exam.

“This is good governance,” he said.

The former President also claimed that some of the other members of the?Carlton Sports Network (CSN) who were arrested with Yoshitha have been told to make accusations against him if they want to be freed.

Meanwhile Namal Rajapaksa said that false allegations have been made against his brother Yoshitha and that this is part of moves to suppress the opposition.

He said that while political revenge is being taken the country has not seen any development since the new Government took office in January last year. (Colombo Gazette)

Ukrainians nabbed in credit card scam

Two Ukrainians have been arrested in Negombo in a credit card scam, police spokesman SP Ajith Rohana said. He said that the two Ukrainians had with them at least 106 forged credit cards as well as a large sum of stolen money.
