Speaking in Parliament today, Dissanayake said that there is evidence to back the allegations against the top police officer.
The JVP leader also accused the police department over its actions, particularly when suspects are arrested and later killed, allegedly when they attempt to escape from police custody.
He said that it has now become a regular occurrence when suspects are killed by the police on the claim that they had attempted to escape.
While raising concerns over the facilities given to the police and the conditions under which they must work, the JVP leader said that police actions in recent times have been deplorable.
He said that a lot of attention must be given to the behavior of the police in recent times as they have lost the confidence of the public. (Colombo Gazette)
