TPC submits proposals on political solution to Wigneswaran

The Tamil People’s Council (TPC) has submitted a set of proposals on a political solution to Northern Province Chief Minister and TPC chairman C V Wigneswaran.

According to reports, the proposals were handed over today and Wigneswaran is expected to make it public on Saturday.

The proposals were compiled after a TPC committee met for several weeks and discussed a solution for the National issue and also obtained submissions from others.

Proposals are also to be sought from the Tamil diaspora before a final set of proposals are compiled and submitted to the public for their approval.?(Colombo Gazette)

IGP ordered to pay compensation to assault victim

The Inspector General of Police (IGP) was today ordered to pay compensation to an innocent commuter who was assaulted when the police had attempted to clear protesters at the Fort railway station in 2014. Court remands Sicille Kotelawala till February 23

Sicille Kotelawala, wife of businessman Lalith Kotelawala, was ordered to be remanded till February 23 by the Fort Magistrate today. She?was?arrested on February 4?after returning to the country at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA).
