Mangala and Ravi in Maldives on an official visit

Foreign Minister Mangala Samaraweera and Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake?are in the Maldives on an official visit.

They were greeted on arrival at the Ibrahim Nasir International Airport, by Ms. Fathimath Inaya, Deputy Minister and Dr. Hussain Niyaaz, Additional Secretary of the Maldives Foreign Ministry.

“The Ministers are visiting the Maldives upon the invitation by the Foreign Minister Dunya Maumoon and the purpose of the visit is to discuss ways in which we can further enhance bilateral cooperation in the areas of mutual concern,” the Maldives Foreign ministry said.

During the visit, the Ministers will call on Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom, President of the Republic of Maldives.

In addition, Samaraweera will call on Ms. Dunya Maumoon, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Maldives while the?Minister of Finance Ravi Karunanayake will call on Abdulla Jihad, Minister of Finance and Treasury of the Maldives. (Colombo Gazette)

Sri Lanka Army deserters to be arrested

The Government has ordered the arrest of all Sri Lanka Army deserters following a rise in crime, mostly linked to weapons in the hands of deserters.
