Enterprise Development Minister Kabir Hashim said that the police have been given the freedom to investigate and implement the law on anyone accused in relation to the incident.
He said that the Government could have sent Premachandra to another country to protect her from the allegations she is facing since she is a member of the ruling party but no such thing has been done.
Kabir Hashim said that once the law takes its course the United National Party (UNP) will decide what action needs to be taken on her if she is found guilty.
A vehicle belonging to Hirunika Premachandra was seized by the police and eight people were arrested over the abduction incident.
