Former Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa and former Sports Minister Namal Rajapaksa were absent during the vote to elect a new Deputy Speaker in Parliament today. Motion to suspend Standing Orders and hold debate on President rejected

A motion submitted by Tamil National Alliance (TNA) Parliamentarian M.A Sumanthiran to suspend the Standing Orders for today and hold a debate on President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, was rejected by Parliament today. The Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) had seconded the motion put forward by Sumanthiran. The motion was rejected with 68 voting for and 119 against it. Wimal claims plan was to create human catastrophe

Former Minister Wimal Weerawansa today claimed that the plan of some Government members was to create a human catastrophe on 9th May. He said that while the country was facing an economic crisis there was an attempt to create a human catastrophe in the country.
