Dr. Shafi Shihabdeen acquitted from all charges

Dr. Shafi Shihabdeen, who was accused of amassing assets through suspicious means and performing illegal sterilization surgeries, has been acquitted from all the charges. The Kurunegala Magistrate?s Court acquitted Dr. Shafi Sihabdeen from all charges and dismissed the case. The Attorney General?s Department had informed the court that there was no evidence to proceed with the case. Court recalls Easter attacks case involving Hemasiri and Pujith

The Supreme Court has recalled the Easter Sunday attacks case involving former Defence Secretary Hemasiri Fernando and former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Pujith Jayasundara. The Supreme Court ordered the Colombo High Court Trial-at-Bar to recall the case following an appeal filed by the Attorney General (AG). The AG?challenged the verdict issued by Colombo High Court to acquit Fernando and Jayasundara from the case.
