Rajapaksa visited the soldiers at the prison hospital in Welikada. Later speaking to reporters Rajapaksa said that the truth must be revealed on what happened to Eknaligoda.
He says as a lawyer he does not want to point fingers at anyone over the case but believes a fair investigation must take place.
Rajapaksa says the former Government had also investigated the disappearance of journalist Prageeth Eknaligoda but did not frame anyone without evidence.
Eknaligoda went missing soon after the 2010 presidential elections during which time he supported the defeated presidential candidate Field Marshall Sarath Fonseka.
At least five soldiers were arrested in connection to the case after the new Government took office in January this year. (Colombo Gazette)
