Tenth suspect arrested in Vithya murder remanded

vithya-01A tenth suspect arrested over the murder of schoolgirl Sivaloganathan Vithya in Jaffna, was produced in court today and ordered to be remanded.

Vithya was abducted and was believed to have been gang-raped before she was killed. Earlier nine suspects had been arrested over the incident.

However the police arrested another suspect and produced him in court today. The tenth suspect was identified as Jayawardena Rajkumar.

The incident had sparked an outrage in Jaffna with violent protests held by students and the public. (Colombo Gazette)


  1. It is an unpardonable crime by Tamil youths on diaspora money on an innocent Tamil girl. Diaspora must note that how their money is used to destroy innocents. This case should be finished soon as in Nirbaya’s case in Delhi. More the delay in hearing the case ,merrier chance for the rapists to escape from justice..
