At least 36 injured as two buses collide

bus accidentAt least 36 people were injured when two buses crashed into each other in Payagala, the police media unit said.

The police said that the accident took place near the Technical College in Katukurunda, Payagala.

Police Spokesperson ASP Ruwan Gunesekara told Xinhua that one of the buses travelling from Aluthgama stopped at a bus terminal when another bus collided with it.

The injured included three women, Gunesekara said.

All those injured, including the 15 army soldiers, had been rushed to the Nagoda Hospital for treatment by residents in the area.

Police are conducting further investigations.

  1. Most Bus drivers do not care the commuters inside. What is in their mind is the buses in front and back competing for passengers. It is a frequent sign on these routes the Driver communicating over mobile while driving checking the competitors position. Passengers in GOD”S hand in such situation. I usually get down from the bus or from the 3 wheeler when the driver is on the mobile. How many can do it? How many care about it? If all care Drivers will not touch Mobile while driving.
