UNP-SLFP conclude talks to take forward coalition

The United National Party (UNP) and the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) have concluded discussions to take forward the coalition for another four years, UNP Parliamentarian and Higher Education Minister Lakshman Kiriella said today. Over 840,000 affected by drought in parts of the country

Over 840,000 people have been affected by drought in parts of the country, despite rain being experienced in other areas. The Disaster Management Centre said that as of noon today?849,752 people have been affected by drought in eleven districts. According to the Disaster Management Centre?243,683 families have been affected by the drought. Among the areas affected are Jaffna, Kurunegala, Batticaloa and Ampara. (Colombo Gazette)
