The Department of Meteorology says an atmospheric disturbance still persists in the vicinity of Sri Lanka and as a result there is a possibility of heavy rain being experienced over the island and neighboring sea areas today.
Showers or thundershowers will develop over most parts of the island after 02.00 p.m. Heavy falls (about 100 mm) are also likely at some places.
The Department of Meteorology also said that showers may occur at several places along coastal areas in the western, southern and eastern provinces.
There may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers.
