Over 1600 families around Kelani valley to be shifted

Over 1600 families living around the Kelani valley railway line are to be shifted to a new location, Transport Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva said.

He says the houses around the track have been constructed illegally and are obstructing operations along the railway line.

The Minister says the families will be shifted to a housing complex to be constructed on land belonging to the Railway Department.

He said that once the families around the?Kelani valley railway line are relocated the?Kelani valley railway track will be made a twin track. (Colombo Gazette)

Western Province Schools given approval to resume for all grades from Monday
