Sir Desmond?s mandate was not extended

The Government has not extended the mandate given to the Advisory Council headed by Sir Desmond de Silva which was appointed to give legal advice to the Presidential commission of inquiry on missing persons head by former judge Maxwell Paranagama. Four Indians arrested for violating visa laws

Four Indians were arrested in Kalmunai for violating local visa laws, the police media unit said today. The police said that the Indians had been doing business in the Kalmunai town at the time they were arrested. The four Indians were in Sri Lanka on tourist visas and were arrested for?doing business, which was a violating of the visa regulations. Aged between 22 and 40, the Indian tourists had in their possession medical drugs and oil at the time they were arrested by the Kalmunai police.
