Government insists no move to censor media

gayantha-karunathilaka2The Government today insisted that there was no move to censor the local media or impose any form of restrictions on them.

Media Minister Gayantha Karunathilake, speaking at an event in Colombo today, said that politicians should act as politicians and the media should be allowed to do their duty.

The Minister said that in the past there had also been restrictions imposed on some local movies but the new Government has no intention of imposing similar restrictions. (Colombo Gazette)
