Government doctors to launch 24 hour strike

Government doctors have decided to go on a 24 hour strike tomorrow on the SAITM private medical college issue. The?Government Medical Officers Association (GMOA) said the strike will be staged in all Government hospitals around the country. The strike is to be launched at 8am tomorrow but the GMOA said that emergency services will not be affected. (Colombo Gazette)

US envoy raises concerns over attack on mosque

The US Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Atul Keshap today raised concerns over the attack on a mosque in Kurunegala. The mosque in in Mallwapitiya, Kurunegala had reportedly come under a petrol bomb attack last night. “Any attack on a house of worship is reprehensible; this is the third in a week. I hope authorities arrest and try the perpetrators soonest,” the US Ambassador tweeted. (Colombo Gazette)
