Sri Lankan refugee in India commits suicide

Almost four days after she consumed poison from her inability to repay her debt, a Sri Lankan refugee (42), living in the Cheyyar camp in Tamil Nadu has died at a local hospital.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Rajeswari had borrowed money on interest from several people without her husband?s knowledge.

Unable to repay the debt, Rajeswari consumed poison when she was alone at home, the New Indian Express reported.

Several students injured after two buses crash in Ampara

Several students sustained injuries after two buses crashed in Ampara, Friday. The accident took place along the Akaraiapattu – Ampara road. According to the Police, a Sri Lanka Transport Board bus and a school bus were involved in the accident. At least 23 school children were injured in the accident are were taken to hospital. The Police said that over 30 people were injured in the accident. (Colombo Gazette)
