President leaves for Thailand on 4 day visit

President Maithripala Sirisena left?for Thailand today on a four day state visit.

Prime Minister of Thailand General Prayut Chan-o-cha invited President Sirisena to participate in the ceremony to mark the 60^th?anniversary of diplomatic relations between Sri Lanka and Thailand.

During this visit, the President will hold discussions with the Princess of Thailand and the Prime Minister of Thailand. The discussions will focus on strengthening the?Buddhist relationship between the two countries.

President Sirisena will also declare open the exposition of the Sarvagna dhathu from the Mahiyangana Rajamaha Viharaya, at the?Buddhamanthan Temple in Thailand on November 03.

A ceremony to place a special Samadhi Buddha Statue offered from Sri Lanka to Thailand,?at the?Dharmarama Temple in Thailand will also be held under the patronage of President Sirisena. (Colombo Gazette)

Chairman of three-wheel association killed

The Chairman of a three-wheel association has died after being assaulted in Mirihana. The Police said that the Chairman of the Self-Employed Professionals? National Three-Wheeler Association, Sunil Jayawardena, succumbed to his injuries in hospital. The 53-year-old man had suffered critical injuries following the assault. He was admitted to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The Police said that eight suspects were arrested over the incident.?(Colombo Gazette)
