Ban told Paranagama Report falls short

The Maxwell Paranagama Commission Report on the Sri Lankan conflict had fallen short of truthfulness and justice, said S P Udayakumar, Convenor of the People?s Movement Against Nuclear Energy (PMANE) and member of the Steering Committee of Pachai Thamizhagam in India.

In a letter addressed to the Secretary General of the United Nations Ban Ki-moon, Udayakumar said that the report appears to be a ploy to circumvent the charges of genocide of the Tamil minority in that country and to avert a possible international inquiry into the ?war crimes? by the Sri Lankan government and its armed forces. Worker from Sri Lanka dies in Korea after working 18 consecutive hours

A Sri Lankan worker at a plastic manufacturing factory in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province in Korea, has died in an industrial accident after working for 18 consecutive hours, the Korea Times reported. According to Hwaseong Seobu Police Station, the 33-year-old worker from Sri Lanka died at a plastic goods manufacturing factory in Paltan Township of Hwaseong City, at around 3:30 a.m. on July 25.
