Defence Ministry to probe Avant Garde ship

The Defence Ministry has decided to appoint a team to investigate the Avant Garde which docked at the Galle harbor recently.

The decision was taken based on a report submitted to the Defence Ministry by the Navy today. According to the report, the ship had violated procedures during its operations.

Investigations on the Avent Garde vessel that docked at the Galle harbor carrying illegal weapons, was concluded on Sunday and the report was handed over to the Defence Ministry today. (Colombo Gazette)

Bail applications by Hemasiri and Pujith to be heard on 17 December

Bail applications submitted by former Defence Secretary Hemasiri Fernando and Inspector General of Police (IGP) Pujith Jayasundara will be heard on 17 December. Two separate bail applications were taken up for hearing today and was fixed for further hearing on 17 December. Pujith Jayasundara and Hemasiri Fernando are in remand custody over the Easter Sunday attacks.
