Nimal Punchihewa has been appointed as the new Chairman of the National Election Commission. The Parliamentary Council approved the appointment of Punchihewa on the recommendation of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa. Daljith Aluvihare has been removed from his post as the Mayor of the Matale Municipal Council. An Extraordinary Gazette Notification has been issued by Central Province Governor Lalith U.
