Two suspects in CBK attack incident sentenced

Two suspects found guilty over the bomb attack targeting former President Chandrika Kumaratunga in 1999 at Town Hall, were sentenced to between 290 and 300 years imprisonment to be served in 30 years.

Another suspect who was also in custody over the incident was released. Kumaratunga sustained injuries in the attack and lost one eye.

Fort Magistrate issues warrant to arrest Udayanga Weeratunga

The Fort Magistrate today issued a warrant to arrest Sri Lanka’s former Ambassador to Russia, Udayanga Weeratunga. The Magistrate instructed the CID to issue the warrant through Interpol.?The warrant was issued over ongoing investigations into the MiG deal.
