Power and Energy Minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya has ordered an investigation into the sudden power cut experienced islandwide last night.
The power cut lasted for several hours and the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) said that the electricity supply was eventually restored.
Meanwhile the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) said the islandwide blackout was believed to have been as a result of low electricity demand and an increase in the power supply,
The CEB said that the high amount of electricity generated on Sunday could not cope with the little demand for electricity that night and this could have resulted in the breakdown. (Colombo Gazette)
