Over 300,000 people have been affected by the heavy rain which lashed most parts of the country during the past few days.
The Disaster Management Center (DMC) said that as of this afternoon 89,686 families consisting of 312,064 people have been affected.
According to the DMC, seven people had died and three others were also missing and floods and landslides affected some areas.
The DMC also said that 840 people had been shifted to temporary displacement camps at 16 locations around the country.
Meanwhile the Department of Meteorology said that more showers can be expected over the country during next two days due to the atmospheric disturbances.
It said that showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the Western, Southern, Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces. Heavy rain falls (more than 100mm) are also expected at some places. (Colombo Gazette)
