NPC calls for victim centered approach

WigneswaranThe Northern Provincial Council (NPC) today called for a victim centered approach when addressing the accountability issue.

NPC Chief Minister C.V. Wigneswaran welcomed the report on Sri Lanka by the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) saying it was one of the most comprehensive reports compiled following investigations conducted on the war.

He said that the NPC will work with all stakeholders to shape the transitional justice process and actively participate at achieving a meaningful outcome.

Wigneswaran tabled the OHCHR report on Sri Lanka at the NPC and urged the NPC members to study the report and its recommendations to fully understand the state of affairs in Sri Lanka and the expectations of the international community. (Colombo Gazette)

  1. The Northern CM is talking too much politics, instead of doing his job. His main job is developing the Northern Province. I have been traveling in the North to find some facts. Kilinochi school children don’t have classrooms to study. Every day teachers are traveling upto 6 hours to come from Jaffna to teach in Kilinochi. But the Northern Province CM couldn’t bother to build classrooms for children or lodging facilities for teachers. The leaders can’t agree on what need to be done; therefore, funds have been returned to the central government. The TNA had chosen the wrong person for the job. They need a smart person with the track record of project management skills. However, the fools have done the wrong thing again by appointing a wrong person.
