Government says it achieved victory in Geneva

RANIL_WICKRAMASING_2521384fThe Government says it achieved victory in Geneva as the report released by the UN on incidents related to the war was not a threat to the country.

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, speaking to media heads today, said that the Government is committed to go ahead with a domestic process to address the concerns in the report.

He said that earlier there were concerns the report by the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights will propose Sri Lanka to be taken before the International Criminal Court.

However he said, on the contrary, the report has proposed a hybrid court court which is yet to be properly defined.

The Prime Minister said the international community is behind the proposal by the new Government to establish a credible domestic process to investigate the allegations on the war and so the Government will go ahead with that process.

President Maithripala Sirisena, who was also at the briefing, said the international community would have insisted on hard strictures and conditions on Sri Lanka in the report of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, if not for the change of government in Presidential Election of January 8 this year.

“The international community is satisfied with the actions taken by the government towards restoration of rights, media freedom, good governance and other positive steps of the new government and it has positively reflected in the UNHRC report, he said.

President Sirisena said if there was no change of government, the report would have posed severe difficulties to the country. Fortunately for the country and the people, the international community came to our support, taking into consideration the positive directions taken by the new government and adoption of the 19th Amendment to the Constitution to take country back to the democratic path. (Colombo Gazette)

  1. You have won, if you don’t see the big picture. In reality the West won. The powerful West is less than 10% of the world population, yet it has achieved its interests in the Indian Ocean through democracy, human rights and good governance. I warned the Chinese Communist leaders and asked to change the course and guide the Rajapaksas, but they have ignored me. I also exposed the West’s ill democracy in Australia, Canada, Germany and New Zealand, but Asian countries didn’t capitalize it, I suffered for nothing. Asians are the majority in the world, it is purely based on flesh, not by the knowledge. You can’t beat the West by your flesh. I see people everywhere in this tiny country; what is the point of having big population? I don’t think Asians can work together. Your flesh will be melting by your stupidity as it had happened in Japan due to atomic bombing. In the future the West doesn’t have to drop nuclear bombs, you will do it to your fellow Asians. I am not expecting you to acknowledge my knowledge, because I didn’t gain my knowledge from Asia. You don’t desire for knowledge nor value people like us. Ask why Asians suffered through atomic bombs? Because you have most dangerous and dark minds.
