Hundreds gather to remember Mullivaikkal victims

Hundreds gathered in parts of the North today to remember the victims of the final stages of the war in Mullivaikkal. Thousands were believed to have been killed in Mullivaikkal during the final battle between the military and the LTTE in 2009. While the actual number of victims is not known, some say around 40,000 civilians were killed while others say around 7000 died.

MR assures Germany will support moves to maintain peace

Opposition leader Mahinda Rajapaksa assured Germany the main opposition will support moves to maintain the peace in Sri Lanka. Key discussion held on Madrasa Act

A key discussion was held at the Prime Minister’s office today on the proposed Madrasa Act. Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said that he had discussions with the Muslim Affairs Minister, Attorney General’s Department and other officials on the Madrasa Act.
