Former Western Province Governor Azath Salley further remanded

Former Governor of the Western Province Azath Salley was today ordered to be further remanded until 09 November. Indictments were served on Azath Salley yesterday over a controversial statement he had made at a media briefing. The Colombo High Court served the indictments on Azath Salley when the case was called before High Court Judge Amal Ranaraja. One person killed following shooting incident in Angoda

One person was killed following a shooting incident in the Angoda area this morning. The Police said that a 42-year old individual was shot dead while another person sustained injuries. The shooting incident took place at a house in the Angoda area. Senior Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police Deshabandu Thennakoon said that the shooting incident was believed to be linked to the illegal drugs trade. Sri Lanka to back global deal against coal power

Sri Lanka has decided to support a global deal against the use of coal to generate electricity.
