Ariyaratne, Shibly, Radhika nominated to CC

Dr A T?Ariyaratne, Shibly Aziz and Dr Radhika Kumaraswamy were today nominated as the civil society representatives to the Constitutional Council (CC).

Dr. Ariyaratne is the founder and president of the Sarvodaya Shramadana Movement in Sri Lanka.

Shibly Aziz is a well-known and eminent President’s Counsel who has contributed extensively to the development of the legal system in the country from on or about 1968.

Dr. Radhika Coomaraswamy was the Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations, Special Representative for Children and Armed Conflict until 13 July 2012.

Coomaraswamy, a lawyer by training, was also formerly the Chairperson of the Sri Lanka Human Rights Commission. (Colombo Gazette)

Two more individuals confirmed with virus taking total to 106

Two more patients have been confirmed late this evening (Thursday night) as having tested positive for the coronavirus, taking the total cases confirmed in Sri Lanka to 106. The number of active cases stands at 100 as six others had recovered and have since been discharged from hospital. A total of 237 individuals remain in hospital on suspicion of having contracted the virus. There have not been any deaths as a result of the virus in Sri Lanka.?(Colombo Gazette)

Four more coronavirus patients recover

Four more persons who had contracted the coronavirus in Sri Lanka were discharged from the National Institute of Infectious Diseases (IDH) in Angoda today. The Ministry of Health said the patients were discharged after a number of tests had been carried out to ascertain their complete recovery.
