The Government will take measures to prevent man-made disasters in future, the new Minister of Disaster Management Anura Priyadharshana Yapa said.
The Minister expressed these views after assuming duties at his Ministry today.
Minister Yapa said that apart from being prepared for an emergency situation which could arise from a disaster, attention should be drawn to proper disaster management.
He said that with global warming, Sri Lanka faces several threats since it is an island and as a Nation greater attention must be drawn towards those threats. (Colombo Gazette)
