Court terminates case on floating armory

avant-garde-mahanuwara-shipThe Magisterial inquiry into the floating armory of Avant Garde has been terminated after the police Criminal Investigations Department (CID) informed court that it will not continue with the case on the advice of the Attorney General’s Department.

Last month the Galle Magistrate lifted a travel ban imposed on former Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa in relation to the Avant-Garde Security company case.

The Magistrate had imposed the travel ban after investigations had been launched over allegations involving Rajapaksa and the floating armoury registered with Avant-Garde. (Colombo Gazette)

  1. Case dismissed and the Minister of Law and Order had appeared for a main accused!! Are we not justified in drawing conclusions!! The man should not have been appointed – an apparent conflict of interest!
