Bribery commission will not be dissolved

The?Bribery and Corruption commission will not be dissolved, the President’s office said in a statement today.

The President’s office said that there were media reports stating that the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption will be dissolved this week.

However the President’s office noted that the establishment of the Commission, appointments and removals of its members should be done in accordance with the 19th Amendment to the Constitution.

Accordingly, there is no power to dissolve the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption.

However, Commissioners for all commissions will be appointed after establishment of the Constitutional Council. (Colombo Gazette)

Ravi.K ordered to appear before CID for lying

Power and Energy Minister Ravi Karunanayake has been ordered to appear before the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) for giving false evidence to the Presidential Commission of Inquiry appointed to investigate the Central Bank treasury bond scam.
