Dutch national drowns at Mount Lavinia sea

drowningA Dutch national who had gone for a swim in Mount Lavinia had drowned, the police media unit said today.

The police said that the foreigner had gone for a sea swim and was pulled away by strong currents.

The man was later rescued and taken to the Kalubowila hospital where he had died. He was identified as a 60 year old resident of the Netherlands. (Colombo Gazette)


  1. There were boards warning swimmers the danger of swimming during the monsoon months but were removed by unknown parties. They need to be put back ASAP.
