Essex will host Sri Lanka in a three-day game at Chelmsford in May next year.
The match, starting on Sunday May 8, will see Angelo Mathews’ side begin their preparation for the two-match Investec Test series against Alastair Cook’s England.
The last time the two teams met was in a rain-reduced one-day match, which Essex won by 22 runs under the Duckworth-Lewis method.
Cook scored 71 from 49 balls, while Ben Foakes scored 51 as Essex made 161-5 from 21 overs. Sri Lanka in reply finished on 146-9. (Courtesy Essexchronicle.co.uk)
