CID grills four soldiers over Prageeth’s disappearance

prageeth_eknaligodaThe Criminal Investigations Department (CID) today questioned four soldiers over the disappearance of journalist Prageeth Eknaligoda and later arrested them.

The CID had recently requested the army to hand over the four soldiers to be questioned over the incident.

The police had earlier this month assured transparency in the investigations over missing journalist Prageeth Eknaligoda.

Police headquarters had said that the police will not leave room for the investigations to be hampered by revealing all details to the media.

The police also said that key information related to the disappearance of the journalist had already been unearthed following the arrest of three suspects earlier. (Colombo Gazette)

  1. Dissapearances have taken place by all governments since 1977, and ended up either by cover up, or by threats to witnesses. Most were conducted either by goon squads or by the lower ranks of the forces under orders of higher ups,in the guise of extracting info by extreme torture , no matter whether the evidence is sufficient or not. Many were political and some personal, and some as a result of their vanity been suffered.
