The Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) and the United National Party (UNP) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on working together in a National Government.
The MoU was signed between SLFP acting General Secretary Duminda Dissanayake and UNP General Secretary Kabir Hashim.
The SLFP had yesterday agreed decided to join the National Government to be formed by the UNP.
The SLFP Central Committee, which met yesterday with SLFP head and President Maithripala Sirisena, had agreed to be part of the National Government.
The SLFP will be in the National Government for two years and will work with other political parties in the Government to address key issues.
A committee was appointed under former President Chandrika Kumaratunga to work on a policy framework under which the SLFP will work in the National Government. (Colombo Gazette)
