Mahinda gets over 400,000 votes in Kurunegala

Mahinda RajapaksaFormer President Mahinda Rajapaksa had got more than 400,000 votes in the Kurunegala District at the 2015 Parliamentary election.

Rajapaksa, who contested from Kurunegala under the United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA), which lost the election, secured 423,529 votes.

His rival in the Kurunegala District from the United National Party (UNP), Akila Viraj Kariyawasam, got 286,165 votes. (Colombo Gazette)


  1. This is the dirtiest general election in SL history. Sirisena, the Party leader SLFP/UFPA breached all rules by attacking the party to stop winning it. Sirisena contested as a independent and won with TNA and UNP votes, so he took revenge from SLFP/UFPA in general election. There should be a inquiry against Sirisena on election fraud as acted favouring UNP.
