ITAK sweeps Jaffna District and secures 5 seats

The Illangai Thamil Arasu Katchi (ITAK) won 69.12 % of the votes in the Jaffna district at the 2015 Parliamentary election and secured 5 seats.

ITAK, which is part of the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) got?207,577 votes while the EPDP got just?30,232 and is second with just one seat.

The United National Party (UNP) got?20,025 and secured one seat. Former LTTE cadres who contested as an independent group could not win any seats.

World’s longest sea crossing linking China and Hong Kong opens

Chinese President Xi Jinping has officially opened the world’s longest sea crossing bridge, nine years after construction first began.
