Singapore in 15th spot after beating Lanka

mbpix623Singapore’s national netball team finished 15th out of 16 teams at the Netball World Cup, after they beat Sri Lanka 59-32 in the 15th/16th-placing match at the Allphones Arena in Sydney on Sunday.

The Republic, ranked 15th in the world, had also finished 15th at the last World Cup edition in 2011.

Against world No. 22 Sri Lanka, they were dominant in the opening three quarters, building a 49-21 lead before easing off in the final quarter.

Singapore managed 80 shot attempts among Charmaine Soh, Chen Huifen, Yu Mei Ling and Pamelia Liew, while Sri Lanka managed only 41 attempts. They were also tenacious in defence, chalking up eight interceptions and 29 deflections. (Courtesy Straits Times)
