Vanni district displaced voters get relief

electionDisplaced voters from the Vanni district have been given the opportunity to cast their votes at polling booths outside the district.

The Department of Elections said that several displaced voters from the Vanni district had made a request to be allowed to use their votes elsewhere.

Accordingly, Vanni district voters who were displaced during the war and are now living in Puttalam and Anuradhapura, will be allowed to cast their votes at polling booths in the area.

The Department of Elections said that the votes of the voters registered in the Vanni district but displaced in Puttalam and Anuradhapura, will be counted as votes from the Vanni during the final count. (Colombo Gazette)
