Three Pakistan nationals have been arrested by the staff of the Customs Narcotic Control unit and Passenger Services Division on suspicion of smuggling heroin into the country.
A customs spokesman said that four packages consisting of three rolls of wire mesh and a hand bag had been sent by the Pakistan nationals as an unaccompanied passenger baggage via Malaysian Airlines flight MH 179 from Lahore, Pakistan via Kuala Lumpur to Colombo last month.
On examination at the customs storage facility in Peliyagoda, officials found heroin concealed inside 03 rolls (454 wires) . Investigations are being carried out by the customs staff along with the staff of the Police Narcotics Bureau. (Colombo Gazette)
