President Maithripala Sirisena has issued instructions to the police Special Task Force (STF) to provide security to the Chairman of the National Dangerous Drugs Control Board Dr. Nilanga Samarasinghe.
Justice Minister Wijedasa Rajapaksa said that he had raised the issue over the security for Samarasinghe, with President Maithripala Sirisena.
He said that the President had then issued instructions for STF security to be given to Samarasinghe who had alleged that his life was under threat.
Samarasinghe had said recently that he had urged the Government to give him security as there are threats to his life owing to the work he does, but so far he had not been given such security. (Colombo Gazette)
