Minor tremor reported from Digana in Kandy

By Vyshnavy Velrajh A minor tremor was reported from the Pallekele area in Digana, Kandy today. Senior Director of Geology at the Geological Survey and Mines Bureau Geologist Udaya de Silva told Colombo Gazette that the tremor had been felt in the Ambakote area in Pallekele at around 9.28am. The tremor was recorded as 2.0 on the Richter scale and has been captured on all four seismic stations of the Geological Survey and Mines Bureau. Welikada inmates protest on prison roof

A group of inmates at the Welikada prison in Colombo staged a protest today. Commissioner of Prisons Administration/Rehabilitation and Skill Development Chandana Ekanayake told Colombo Gazette that a group of 10 inmates were engaged in the protest. They have climbed on to the roof of a prison building to stage the protest, he said. Ekanayake added that the protesting inmates are demanding officials to speed up their judicial process. Senior CID officers appointed to probe Brandix cluster

A group of senior officers of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) have been appointed to investigate the Brandix coronavirus cluster.
