Mahinda signs nomination papers for polls

Pen signing documentFormer President Mahinda Rajapaksa signed the nomination papers this morning to contest the Parliament election under the United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA), former opposition leader Nimal Siripala de Silva said.

Rajapaksa will be contesting the August 17 Parliament elections from the Kurunegala District.

Several other UPFA members also signed their nomination papers today.


  1. Global Tamil Forum spent a lot of money for Sri Lankan politicians and foreign powers to stop Rajapaksa contesting. Now they have to go for plan B. They were successful in the presidential election when they supported Sirisena.
