President briefs newly appointed diplomats

President Maithripala Sirisena today briefed newly appointed Sri Lankan Ambassadors and High Commissioners who will be taking up their new posts soon.

The President’s office said that 33 newly appointed Ambassadors were briefed by the President in the presence of Foreign Minister Mangala Samaraweera.

  1. Mangala believes that diaspora has great skills and knowledge. However, not even one diaspora has chosen for this particular job. This job needs lot of foreign experience, but according to Mangala diaspora’s great skills and knowledge are not adequate enough for this job. In fact diaspora is not threat to the ministers jobs, this is how it works in South Asia. People with great skills and knowledge are not suppose to be in the government. Surely, South Asia will be ruled by the Chinese, I have no doubt.
