Nimal communicates MS stand to Mahinda

nimal_siripala_b1Opposition leader and Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) member Nimal Siripala de Silva was to formally communicate to former President Mahinda Rajapaksa the stand taken by President Maithripala Sirisena on giving nominations to Rajapaksa for the Parliament election.

Well informed sources told the Colombo Gazette that Nimal Siripala de Silva was to meet Rajapaksa this morning to communicate Sirisena’s  stand.

Sources said that Sirisena had eventually agreed to give nominations to Rajapaksa from the United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) or SLFP but not the Prime Minister post.

Sirisena had informed his position to the SLFP top brass yesterday and that decision was to be communicated to Rajapaksa today.

The President is the chairman of the UPFA and head of the SLFP. (Colombo Gazette)

  1. Mr Sirisena you are most disgusting presidents ever to enter Sri lanka Politics, with all your corruption and murder stories about Mr gave him the green light
Plese through your presidentship to garbage bin man

  2. Sirisena is not a part of SLFP, so why people asking him what to do. Chandrika also not a part as she came to take revenge. The problem is created by the members of part for not kicking Mithreepala out. It was a big mistake appointing Sirisena as leader of SLFP, the person who went against the SLFP just to win the election; he even joined UNP.

  3. However, the MP who claims a majority in the parliament should be appointed the PM in terms of constitution. If the president appoints someone else, it shows ultra virus to his power. Let’s wait and see.

    • Look at 43(3) of our constitution. You have misunderstood the constitution. It says:
“The President shall appoint as Prime Minster the Member of Parliament who in his opinions is most likely to command the confidence of Parliament.”

So, it’s basically upto MS’s “opinion” and an opinion is subjective. In other words, MS can even appoint me as the PM, if I enter parliament, if that’s what he feels like doing.
