The opposition today reiterated concerns over national security in light of some of the actions taken by the Government and statements made by the United States and others.
United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) Parliamentarian Wimal Weerawansa told Parliament that the country is facing the threat of being divided once again and urgent action was required to prevent that.
He warned of an attempt to remove high security zones in the North, including the Palaly high security zone.
Weerawansa said that while the former Government had released some land held by the army following the end of the war based on security assessments, the current Government was releasing land owing to international pressure. (Colombo Gazette)
