Opposition reiterates concerns over national security

wimal_weerawansaThe opposition today reiterated concerns over national security in light of some of the actions taken by the Government and statements made by the United States and others.

United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) Parliamentarian Wimal Weerawansa told Parliament that the country is facing the threat of being divided once again and urgent action was required to prevent that.

He warned of an attempt to remove high security zones in the North, including the Palaly high security zone.

Weerawansa said that while the former Government had released some land held by the army following the end of the war based on security assessments, the current Government was releasing land owing to international pressure. (Colombo Gazette)

  1. Sirisena is acting according to promises given to Diaspora in exchange of votes for his victory; security is not a priority for him. It is unlikely this president can see what can happen 10 years on the track, for damages he has done to Sri Lanka.

  2. “Opposition” or opposition to opposition in the Parliament is the question. Who is Wimal, a guy who stole money from the public and who is trying to protect his neck is talking. Who listens to him NO ONE!

  3. Your message..dear wimal we are not ready to cast votes to robbers of the nation. we are the people who wish to live all communities in a peaceful nation. we hate rasicsm but love patriotism.
