India’s forthcoming tours of Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka hang in the balance with no final word on the issue concerning the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and Ten Sports, the official broadcaster owned by Essel Group.
The BCCI has taken a serious view of the reported efforts by the Essel Group to float a rebel league on the lines of the now-defunct Indian Cricket League (ICL) held in 2007 and ’08.
The Zimbabwe Cricket Union is looking at fresh dates next year, hoping that the issues with Ten Sports would be sorted out by then.
The Zimbabwe tour is scheduled from July 10 to 19, with the team playing three ODIs and two T20s.
The selection committee meeting to pick the team for the tour, in case it goes ahead, will be held in New Delhi on June 29.
In Sri Lanka, the Indians are slated to play three Tests in August-September. (Courtesy The Hindu)
