Keheliya accuses Rajitha of telling lies over meet

keheliyaFormer cabinet spokesman Keheliya Rambukwella has accused current cabinet spokesman Rajitha Senaratne of telling lies over a meeting held last week to discuss the future of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP).

Senaratne told reporters at the post cabinet press conference on Thursday that during the SLFP meeting President Maithripala Sirisena had said that former President Mahinda Rajapaksa will not receive nominations to contest the next Parliament elections.

However SLFP member and cabinet spokesman under the former Rajapaksa Government, Keheliya Rambukwella said that Sirisena made no such comment.

Rambukwella said that at the crucial SLFP meeting last week the President had noted that the last meeting he had with Rajapaksa had not been very successful but yet both sides kept the doors open to meet again.

Rambukwella said that when the President had made a positive comment, Senaratne had given the impression there was no chance of unity between the two leaders by making a comment in an attempt to meet his own agendas. (Colombo Gazette)

  1. I do not know why Inforlanka entertains idiots like this guy who has no standing in the community both locally and internationally. These are the donkeys who bring in a black mark to the politicians of SL.

    • Nawaz, I’m sorry to say that this is the third of your comments that I’m responding to. Now I label you a troll!

In my first response I agreed with you, in my second I disagreed. Now, I have to ask you not to insult readers. You have a fixed point of view and keep posting comments mechanically. You have decided that, whether the context is appropriate or not, you will call all those in the Maithri camp “back-stabbers”. Surely, you ought to know that Keheliya was elected with UNP votes, then became an SLFP Minister. As “Park” says below, after Mahinda R. lost in January 2015, Keheliya tried to get back in to the UNP.

Some guys were more fortunate, but I do hope that Maithri denies nomination to many a “veteran” Member of Parliament. There are outstanding people who can be useful even in their nineties, but those are the exceptions. About a year ago, (please correct me if I am wrong) Tunisia elected an 88 year old as President, replacing a much better younger man. But that was a refreshing change in terms of democracy. Most of us average guys have to learn to take back seats after the age of 55.

This, by the way, is a complete poem by Coleridge:

“Swans sing before they die—’twere no bad thing
Should certain persons die before they sing.”

  2. Oh! please go easy on this peeping Tom as story go he lost what left of his thinking ability when he fell from hotel balcony head first trying to peep at room below and broke his leg.

  3. How dare this “keli” Keheliya accuse Rajitha of telling lies. Has this Keheliya forgot about all stupid lies and the grins he showered on the media during his time. Has he forgotten howmuch he begged Ranil to take him back to UNP. Guys like “Keli” Keheliya have to be kicked on their face out of politics.
